Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Helpers by Michael Cummins, Sun 10 Jul '16

Yes.  Wendy and I escape to Disneyworld as often as our schedule allows.  Being about three and a half hours away, it’s close enough to visit frequently yet far enough away to make us feel like we’ve left our troubles behind.  We’re DVC members, and stay at the resorts as often as we can.

One of the things we like to do is to play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, SotMK for short. To be honest, my favorite part of playing the game is just casually making my way around the park with my wife.  There aren’t any long lines to stand in, the game doesn’t mind if you distract yourself in a shop or stop to listen to a live band or take lunch.  More, it feels like you’re in on a secret, and you begin feeling sorry for all the people rushing from ride to ride.

What is SotMK?  I’ll have to spend some time in another post, I think.  All I wanted to do here is introduce you to a closed FaceBook group, the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Helpers:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/SOTMKhelpers/

They have over 5100 members, last I checked, and the group exists solely to…

…well, I’ll let them explain:

"Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom (SotMK) is a fun interactive game played with collectible trading cards. This group was created for sorcerers to help each other out to complete their decks of cards by trading, paying it forward, and random acts of kindness. This group is very light and family friendly."

So.  If you are interested in playing SotMK or are already playing the game, this is a fun group to know.  There’s almost always someone from this group hanging out in Tortuga Tavern on any given weekend, and they even trade cards through the mail.

If you’re interested in joining, put a few photos of you in Disneyworld in your public profile, so they know you’re not a spammer, and join up!
